Disturbed by reports that the stylised violence in the film had provoked copycat crimes, Kubrick withdrew the film in Britain in 1973 and it wasnt made available again until 2000, a year after Kubricks death. Kubrick was famous for being a particularly detail-oriented director. But when I do, I try to make it clear, The Shining was a good experience. Danny Lloyd didn't know he was making a horror movie while shooting The Shining. It starred Jack Nicholson as an unsuccessful writer and a terrible father who hunted down his son Danny (played by Danny Lloyd) with the intent to kill. The movie revolves around Danny trying to protect a young girl who also the Shine from the True Knot, a cult that feeds off of it. Easily the most iconic moment in The Shining is when Wendy locks herself in a bathroom and Jack starts hacking away at the door with an ax.
